I've just edited a wikipedia entry for the first time. I can't count that other time when I inserted the figures about the girth of Bill Cosby's penis. Kidding. It occurred to me that Pui and Chris, Cbeebies presenters, have been distinctly absent from our screens. We don't watch much Cbeebies anymore (kids prefer movies or dr who) apart from in the morning before we go downstairs (i.e when mummy and daddy are dozing) but this worried me and tonight I had to check the goss online. And goss there is! Nik found this and it is kind of weird yet amusing. Make sure to check our Barry's comments.
Anyway I miss Chris and Pui because my children have grown up watching them. They were like family, well two dimensional familt that doesn't talk back and you can turn off with the push of a button. Ahh Family! I'm going to miss Pui and her off key singing and Chris and his camp dimply smiles. Nik has assured me they will be back with a show of their own. Whew.
Sheesh. Listen to me waffle on about cbeebies presenters. Somebody smack me.

a color intermediate between black and white
Argh. My hair. It's sprouting grey. Don't get me wrong, grey is a favourite hair colour of mine. Just not on me right this moment. I'd rather have a full head of grey or a skunk stripe rather than a few wiry sprigs standing at attention waving to passers by. So what to do? I really fancy a shade of red sort of like this one but a drop deeper: (ignore the lashes)

Blonde ain't my colour. I've done black more times than I can count (high school goth). I still love my chestnut colour. So I either take a chance or play it safe. Red or brown? Brown or Red?

How could you not love the credit crunch now? I particularly love how the credit crunch eats kisses.

sex machine
We have a randy cat situation. I'm not supposed to talk about it on my blog but let's just say I think Bam has been watching Brokeback Mountain and Nik's arm is looking particularly fine bathed in the moonlight glowing through our windows.
oops. I've said too much.

We're back
What day is it?
I've had some trouble with this question. On Tuesday I asked Nik to take Digi into school but Digi decided he would rather cuddle in bed. We got up late. Around noon, Matt (Caroline's husband/Tommy's Dad/Neighbour/Good Cop) knocked on the door to give Digi a lift to school. I said, "oh I didn't know Tim went on a Tuesday." He told me it was Wednesday and I didn't believe him until he said (taking the p), "I think I know what day it is. I'm not the one with jet lag." I had to go in and phone Nik just to make sure, I was that convinced. What a weird feeling.
I had to stay in the next day because when I drove to Tesco to pick up some food my body was doing the weird jerking thing that sometimes happens when you first fall asleep. What a weird feeling.
Today is the first day I've felt the teeniest bit awake and that's what seven cups of coffee will do for you.
I'll catch up with the world next week. Looking forward to many catch up chats with my peeps. x

So far
I've finally learned how to skip a rock on the water.
I rode 1/4 mile in the back of a pickup truck.
I went fishing.
We found two animal skulls in the woods. (wonder if we can hide these in the suit cases?)
Nik built a small dam in a creek.
I have only checked my email once. withdrawl withdrawl.
I've eaten enough bbq. steaks, and meat to last me a year. Was some of the best I have ever had but I'm totally going veggie when we get back.
I've realised I cannot travel without my Aveda moisturiser. My skin was so angry with me until I went to an Aveda shop and hydrated it.
It's so nice to be outside instead of freezing indoors. We've loved the parks and fishing and picnics but today is the day for shopping. Mummy needs a new pair of shooz.

The eagle has landed
We're here in the hill country at last. Our flight on Continental was pretty groovy. They gave us two rows just for us, including a bulk head one. The flight wasn't very full which was great for us. The kids were pretty good considering the extreme boredom involved in flying. The last couple of hours were saw us all getting itchy feet but all in all it wasn't that bad. I was (and still am) in the throws of the worst cold I've had in a long time (sorry alan and annie and everyone else I infected) and the cabin pressure was making my sneezes and coughs much worse. I felt sorry for the few people around us until I heard one poor soul whose repeated cough sounded like they were dislodging a baseball sized ball of wet phlegm. I was too scared to look at them. Anyway, we landed, and then transferred onto a new small plane, only after Kalila threw up right on passport control's desk. A combo of a phlegm ball (it wasn't her on the plane coughing though) and running made her tell the incredibly rude passport control lady just exactly what she thought of her. I was proud until I discovered it had gone down both sides of her trunki suitcase. We can both say that Trunki are a fantastic product to buy and the kids loved riding on them. If you buy them be prepared for nearly everyone to smile and comment as you glide past. Please excuse my jumping about all over the place but I'm a little screwed up by cold medication/jetlag/infomercials. Back to flying. We had a slight panic in the air because the pilot said there was a slight problem with the landing gear. EEK! It was soon sorted but my heart was thumping as we landed.
The weather here is stunning. Today the kids were washing nana's car and Nik and I were on the sun loungers. My toes were breathing fresh warm air and a couple of freckles may have been born while I turned my cheeks to the sky. The kids met a little girl called Bella who lives next door with her new puppy Sarah. This little piece of fluff sat on my lap for ages and nibbled my hands. They got invited to her birthday party tomorrow. How sweet.
The kids woke up at about 2am and stayed up for an hour and a half with nana. Digi went straight into her room and woke her up. He then had a doughnut and a waffle then exclaimed that he was now ready for breakfast! They came back to bed for a couple of hours and then we all got up but not before I watched a little early morning TV in bed until I got the strength to lift my legs. I was loving the infomercials. My favourite had to be the Amish Custom Built Miracle Fireplace. I would link to it but I've got jetlag. I'm going to use that excuse for a few weeks now so hope you get used to it. I saw InStyle heated hair straighteners, wonder hangers, Nuwave ovens, Cricut craft machines. There is a whole new world of TV on in the wee hours that fascninates me for some strange reason. Nik pointed out that Britain's infomercials tend to be on during the day and aimed at very very oldies who can't walk up the stairs. Anyway, this ramble jamble must end.

Woah. Has it really been that long? I've been stuck in the Christmas time warp. 'Scuse me while I reminisce.
It all started when we got our Christmas tree from our very own little village. We've seen them advertised for a couple of years and why we never got them here. I don't really know. It's a neat little forest just down the road where you can wander through and pick your own.
They even provide axes. For those who have cold children in tow you'll find plenty of chopped trees. We picked one and Nik carried it down the road.

I decided it was time for new ornaments this year and we went with glass baubles. Small children and glass baubles. What was I thinking? Actually it all worked out fine with not a single breakage nor did anyone sneak into their presents which were displayed for almost two weeks.

We went to Nik's work party on a Saturday and I wore the most fantastic shoes that I think I will ever own. Vince Noir would be jealous. Kalila actually picked them out. We were looking at shoes and she picked them up and handed them to me. The girl knows her mother.

Nik's sister (auntie Kelly) and her family (Uncle Greg, Fletcher, Thea, and Corin) flew into town from SA and we all gathered on Sunday. We gathered a lot of the days hence me not blogging.
On Christmas Eve we went round to my friend Holli's house for my first ever glass of Sherry and some other liquid refreshment from vomfass that I can't remember the name of and then we all walked to the village green for Christmas carols. It was amild evening and it was quite pleasing. A lot of the mums walked around with the community association to collect change for Digi's pre school, myself included. I think people were very generous with their donations and it was great that they decided to make our group their chosen charity to collect for.
Our Christmas Day meal was shared with the lovely Auntie Karen and Uncle Simon. They were ever so pleased to be Stephanie and Sportacus thanks to their fairy godparents.

After the kids unwrapped far too many presents and played with what Santa brought, we left the toy explosion to visit Nik's parents house.
Directly after Christmas, Digi came down with a raging fever for three days. He pretty much was a miserable sausage for a few days so we stayed in. We kept warm. We stayed up far too late. The kids woke up around ten pm after going to bed and watched TV with us for an hour then we all fell asleep in the bed and woke up quite late. Repeat for about a week. It was actually rather nice despite the amount of germs we were smearing all over each other with each cough. Kalila got the fever a few days later. We're still not entirely well. Digi has juicy cough. Kalila has barky cough. I have annoying loud cough. Nik doesn't have a cough but every so often he almost coughs.
On New Years Eve we had Karen and Simon over again for the Japanese meal we were supposed to have but Nik was ill. The sushi chef was on fine form and we ate some good sheet. Check out our mangas I created.

Despite how I look in this photo, I did not have a hangover unlike one sushi chef who drank almost an entire bottle of sake.

The following day was my darling boy Indigo's fourth birthday. We took a train to Nene Valley Railway where we steam trained and frolicked in the cold until we were too cold to frolic.

The celebrations didn't stop there. All the family took the park and ride double decker bus into Cambridge (these kids love their public transport) and ate at Giraffe then went to build a bear factory and created some gorgeous but overpriced cuddly toys. I've never seen a bear factory so busy. Stuffing bears is a popular pastime amongst young folk. We bought some trunkis for our trip to 'merka as well. Why don't they make adult ones?
That's not all but that's all I've got for today. We've been catching up on some telly over Christmas and I am loving Peep Show and House. Got me some episodes and a warm bed to jump into.
