His first full book.

For the past couple of weeks, Indigo has been bringing home books from school, one chosen by him, and one by his teacher. The ones from his teacher contained no words and he was supposed to make up a story. He did this but was a bit bored and wouldn't do it more than once or twice.
I read his other books (usually bug dictionary, his auntie care-wren would be so proud)to him but pointed to words and he read them.
This week he brought home his reading book. With words and stuff. We read it together a couple of times and then he read it a couple of times. I wanted to test how much was memorization and how much he actually knew so he read it backwards. Then I picked pages at random. Then I covered the pictures and made it random. He wasn't fooled and luckily he thought this was fun rather than sussing out mummy was trying to sneak in some tests.

The simple text of A Good Trick by Roderick Hunt/Alex Brychta

A rug
A sheet
A big box
A little box
Kipper.

Tomorrow I might try writing the words out to see if he still gets them. I bet he will get them all. Go Indigo J! You've now officially read an entire book! Incidentally Kalila "read" it as well but when I asked her to point to box and she pointed to little, I knew she'd been busted. Ha. It's really sweet. Whenever Digi has to do homework, I have to assign her the same homework. She actually wants to do homework. Bet I won't be repeating that phrase in five years time.

Alliteration homework:

Indigo inspects insects in India.

Kalila kisses koalas and kangaroos

I was trying to start an alliterative sentance beginning with Nik and ending with Nipper but I kept getting stuck.
