It's random blog time.

A friend lent us High School Musical as the kids kind of wanted to see it and ok, I did as well. we got halfway through when Digi piped up, "Mummy, this isn't very exciting." We didn't quite finish it and I've found myself wanting to finish it but I can't quite justify watching it without the kids. There is a two and three is there? Oh dear.

Digi and Kalila's cousins, Thea, Fletcher, and Corin have been staying with Alan and Annie for a while before they move back to Glasgow. The kids have been playing a lot together and yesterday we had Thea over for the afternoon. They played beautifully and even helped me plant Watermelon seeds! As I was putting some clothes in the wash they ran upstairs to play. Five minutes later I went to check on them and I heard little giggles coming from the bathroom. I thought they had gotten into my lotions and potions (as Digi is fond of using hair gel and my deodorant on occasion and I caught Kalila using my Aveda moisturizer this week). Digi gave me one of his trademark "guilty" looks. It's really easy to know if Digi has done something by the extreme look of guilt on his face when he knows he will get into trouble. Not that it happens that often nowadays. He doesn't like trouble. Anyway, Digi had put all of Kalila's hair clips in Thea's hair and he was being the hairdresser and Thea had put all the hair bands on her arm as bracelets. It was all preparation for the marriage ceremony apparently. Thea and Digi were getting married. Kalila wanted to marry Digi as well but he refused. She was quite upset about this rejection so I whispered to Digi to just pretend as Kalila was upset but he flatly refused. We live in the sticks but obviously even our tiny hamlet has rules about marrying your sister. Cousins fine but not sisters.
This morning we had Fletcher over and he played with Digi as Kalila was at pre school. They played dinosaurs and fighting and Digi "read" Fletcher a story in the playhouse. I read them Beauty and the Beast and they were both mesmerized. Later on they wanted to watch a DVD. I pressed play but a princess movie was in. I stopped it thinking they would want Power Rangers but Digi shouted that he wanted the princess one. Boys will be erm boys eh! Both sat and watched ten minutes of princess movie while I tidied up toys and random bits of cut up paper that my children are so obsessed with making.

There is no better game than Lizard's (his favourite soft toy) birthday for Digi. Lizard's birthday begins with making tickets to the event by cutting and taping and generally making a mess. I get tickets to Lizard's birthday every day. In fact Lizard must be about 148 years old by now because I'm sure this game has been going on for that many days minimum! We had a new development recently. Digi used lizard's birthday as a bargaining tool. "Daddy, if you don't let me stay up Lizard won't let you come to his birthday ever again." "Mummy, if you don't let me have sweets Lizard won't let you come to his birthday ever again." Things like this don't make me lose patience, they just make me laugh. Amazingly smart little creatures. I feel like I can't type fast enough to keep all the memories I want to. Ah well, I'm sure my kids will forgive me for watching house instead of capturing their funnies.

We're going camping this weekend and it's supposed to rain. Don't care. I need gadget/internet/tv detox even if that means being cold, wet, and uncomfortable. At least I'll be with funny people.

And what are you up to?

Lizard sounds like a cutie. Emmie has the orange cyclops blanket like I sent Digi and it's her security blanket - she won't sleep without it. Good thing I was thinking straight and bought an extra! I love the little fixations they have on inanimate objects.
